The Ministry of Energy and Water Transformation (PETRA) in Malaysia has announced an incentive program called the "People's Solar Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS)" to encourage residential energy consumers to adopt solar energy. This program is open to all Malaysian citizens with a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) account, as well as citizens applying for the Net Energy Metering (NEM) program for the first time.
The SolaRIS program is based on the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme, where the government will provide cash subsidies ranging from 1,000 Malaysian Ringgit to 4,000 Malaysian Ringgit (equivalent to 211 USD to 843 USD) per kWAC to individuals who submit applications for installing solar energy systems to the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) after April 1, 2024. PETRA has approved a quota of 350MW for the NEMRakyat program, and the submission window for subsidy applications is open from April 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024 (or until the quota is exhausted). Solar energy systems must be installed and operational by March 31, 2025.
Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and head of PETRA, stated, "Through this resolution, PETRA believes that SolaRIS will attract more domestic users to participate and enjoy the benefits of installing solar energy systems in residential areas, further promoting the desire for energy transition and our country's carbon neutrality goal by 2050."
As part of the SolaRIS initiative, Malaysian citizens looking to harness solar power through the program can enhance their installations with the advanced solar mounting systems from UISOLAR. UISOLAR provides state-of-the-art mounting solutions tailored to maximize the effectiveness and longevity of solar setups, seamlessly integrating them into residential environments. By opting for UISOLAR's premium mounting systems, participants in the SolaRIS program can optimize the performance of their solar energy systems, fostering greater sustainability, cost-efficiency, and environmental impact reduction for years to come.
