On July 31, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, the Andijan regional government and "PowerChina International Group Co., Ltd." signed an agreement to build a 400MW solar photovoltaic power plant in the Andijan region.
It is reported that the project will start construction in September 2023, and the first 100MW capacity of the solar photovoltaic power plant is planned to be put into use on April 1, 2024. By November 30, 2024, the total capacity will reach 400MW.
Once the project is put into operation, the solar photovoltaic plant will produce 700 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year, save 212 million cubic meters of natural gas, and prevent 294,000 tons of harmful greenhouse gases. The project will be built on non-agricultural land.
